The Best Long Island Iced Tea Cocktail Recipe

I have always been a fan of classic cocktails, and one of my favorite drinks (that I think gets a bad rep) is the Long Island Iced Tea. Originating in the 1970s in Long Island, New York, this infamous drink has become a staple in bars and households all over the world.

But what makes a perfect Long Island Iced Tea? Is it the combination of equal parts of vodka, white rum, tequila, gin, and triple sec? Or is it the splash of cola and fresh-squeezed lemon juice? I have experimented with different recipes and techniques, but after years of trial and error, I have finally perfected the ultimate Long Island Iced Tea recipe.

The Original Recipe: A Twist on a Classic Cocktail

Let's start with the basics. The classic Long Island Iced Tea recipe calls for equal parts of white rum, tequila, gin, vodka, and triple sec.

However, I have found that using a high-quality white tequila instead of the traditional gold tequila gives the cocktail a smoother and more refined taste. Additionally, I like to add a splash of Grand Marnier, an orange liqueur, to add a subtle depth of flavor. To sweeten the drink, I use simple syrup instead of the usual sugar, as it blends better with the other ingredients.

The Infamous Drink: A Closer Look at the Ingredients

One of the key components of a Long Island Iced Tea is the splash of cola. This may seem like an odd addition to a cocktail, but it adds a slight sweetness and depth of color to the drink. I recommend using Coca-Cola for a classic taste, but you can also use other cola brands if desired.

Another crucial ingredient is the fresh squeezed lemon juice. I cannot stress enough the importance of using fresh lemon juice over bottled lemon juice. It adds a bright and tangy flavor that enhances the other ingredients. Plus, it's healthier and more natural.

The Perfect Mix: How to Prepare the Cocktail

Now that we have covered the ingredients, let's talk about the preparation. I prefer to use a cocktail shaker to mix my Long Island Iced Tea, as it helps to blend all the flavors together evenly. However, if you don't have a shaker, you can also mix the ingredients directly in a highball or Collins glass.

Start by adding all the base spirits (white rum, tequila, gin, vodka, and triple sec) into the shaker or glass. Next, add the simple syrup and fresh squeezed lemon juice. Give it a good stir or shake to combine all the ingredients. Then, fill the glass with ice cubes and top it off with a splash of cola. Stir again to incorporate the cola, and your Long Island Iced Tea is ready to be enjoyed.

After years of experimenting and perfecting, I have finally found the best Long Island Iced Tea recipe. It's a classic cocktail with a twist, using high-quality ingredients and a splash of grand marnier to elevate the flavors. Whether you mix it in a cocktail shaker or use the convenience of oolong tea Long Island Iced Tea capsules, this recipe is sure to become your go-to for personal consumption or entertaining guests.

So next time you're in the mood for a refreshing and delicious drink, try out this Long Island Iced Tea recipe and taste the difference for yourself. Cheers to healthy recipes and enjoying your favorite drinks in the comfort of your own home!
