The BEST Cucumber Margarita Recipe (Spicy Option!)

As someone who loves trying out new cocktail recipes, I am always on the lookout for unique and refreshing twists on classic drinks. And let me tell you, I have found the ultimate summer drink – the Cucumber Margarita. This drink is perfect for those hot summer days or even for happy hour with friends. It’s a delicious combination of fresh ingredients and a little bit of heat, making it the perfect balance of flavors. So, without further ado, let me share with you my favorite Cucumber Margarita recipe!

Why Cucumber?

Before we dive into the recipe, you might be wondering why cucumber? Well, cucumbers are not just for salads or spa water, they actually make a great addition to cocktails. They have a subtle and refreshing flavor that pairs perfectly with tequila and lime juice. If you like traditional margaritas, you'll love this refreshing twist.

Ingredients:

  • 4 peeled cucumber slices

  • 2 oz 100% Blue Agave Tequila

  • 1 oz Triple Sec or orange liqueur

  • ΒΎ ounce fresh lime juice

  • ΒΌ-Β½ ounce Simple syrup, to taste

  • Lime wedge for garnish

Instructions

  1. To start, rub a lime wedge along the rim of your margarita glass. Then, dip the rim in sea salt on a plate. This will give your drink a nice salty kick.

  2. In a cocktail shaker, add 4 slices of peeled cucumber and ΒΌ-Β½ ounce of simple syrup (depending on how sweet you like your drinks). Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently muddle the cucumbers and syrup together. If you don’t have a muddler, you can also pulse the cucumbers in a food processor for a few seconds.

  3. Next, add a handful of ice to the shaker, along with 2 ounces of tequila, 1 ounce of Triple Sec, and ΒΎ ounce of fresh lime juice.

  4. Shake well to combine all the ingredients and chill the drink.

  5. Strain the drink into your prepared glass. If you prefer your margaritas on the rocks, simply pour the drink over a handful of fresh ice. If you prefer it straight up, you can serve it in a martini glass.

  6. Garnish with a lime wedge and enjoy your Cucumber Margarita!

Spice it Up:

Now, if you’re feeling adventurous and want to add a little bit of heat to your drink, you can easily do so by adding a few slices of jalapeno to the cocktail shaker. Trust me, the combination of cool cucumber and spicy jalapeno slices is a match made in heaven. Just be sure to strain the drink through a fine-mesh strainer to remove any seeds or pulp before serving.

To make it even spicier, you can also infuse your own tequila with jalapenos. Simply slice a few jalapenos and add them to a bottle of silver tequila. Let it infuse for a day or two, and you’ll have a spicy tequila ready to go for your next round of Spicy Cucumber Margaritas.

Simple Syrup:

If you’re not familiar with simple syrup, it’s basically just equal parts of sugar and water heated until the sugar dissolves. You can make your own simple syrup at home using this recipe. The simple syrup adds a touch of sweetness to the drink without the grittiness of sugar. You can also use agave nectar as an alternative to simple syrup.

The Cucumber Margarita is one of my all-time favorite cocktails. It’s a great way to cool off on a hot summer day and it’s a delicious twist on a classic drink. So, next time you’re in the mood for a refreshing and unique cocktail, give this recipe a try. I promise you won’t be disappointed. Cheers to delicious recipes and happy hour!
